The Sleepy Hollow Nursery School is a parent cooperative school which has been operating since 1946. It is a child centered, developmental school with a play based curriculum. The program is state licensed for children beginning at 2 years 6 months up to Kindergarten entrance.

The Sleepy Hollow Nursery school is developmental in nature. It offers appropriate play experiences that contribute to the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and aesthetic development of the preschool child. The school provides opportunities for parents to learn about child development by working within a planned program as a classroom assistant.

Parent participation is mandatory and parents work as assistants 1-3 times monthly based on current enrollment and attendance. Parents attend one monthly business meeting and accompany children on field trips. Parents contribute to the maintenance of the school by participating on various committees as well as providing help annually with cleanup and refreshment responsibilities. During your work days at school, plan to make arrangements for the care of other siblings.

Enrollment is limited to approximately 20 children. Our program follows the same holidays and vacation schedule as the Ross Valley School district and there is no summer session. We are a peanut-free school and are well aware of the issues of peanut allergies. If your child should have an allergy to peanuts or another food we respectfully require that those foods not be served within the school.
