New Year, New SHHA Board...
Welcome Carolyn Goodman!
On Thurs., Feb. 5, 2009, at the monthly meeting of the SHHA, a new board was elected into office, and it seems that the incoming Officers are providing a healthy representation of boys into our community.
New president Carolyn Goodman is a 10‐year Hollow resident and lives on Van Winkle Drive with her husband and 3 boys. Together, they’ve been active for years in many Hollow activities including the Swim Team, Tennis Team, 4th of July festivities and Friday night Socials.
The new vice President is Rolf Selvig, who lives with his wife and 2 boys on Martling. Famous for his BBQ’d oysters at 4th of July (and in charge of this years festivities), he was instrumental in getting our Clubhouse parking lot tidied up with a beautiful new fence between us and our Butterfield neighbors, a proper curb and plantings. By paving the alleyway between the clubhouse and the fence, we were able to successfully move the dumpster from our collective line of site and increase clubhouse parking.
The new Treasurer is James Ayres. He lives with his wife and 2 boys on Catskill Court. James helped ensure we stayed toasty at our Friday night socials by dragging his outdoor firepit over to the Snack Bar for all to enjoy.
The new Secretary is Laurie O’Hara‐Torres. A busy Mom with a young son and daughter, Laurie has been part of the SHHA Welcoming Committee and helped organize the SH Presbyterian Church trip to Mexico for 64 adults and kids in 2008.
Luke Argilla joins us as a new Board Member. Luke and his wife, Kit have resided on Irving Drive for more than 25 years and have been very active in the community.
Other new members‐atlarge include Holly Briese (Fawn Dr.), and Tici Truly (Tarry Rd.).
Returning Board members include Karen Maclean (Van Tassel Ct.), Darlene Hanley (Butterfield Rd.), Colleen Bertiglia (Van Winkle Dr.).
Keeping Our Children Safe!
On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 3, 2009, there was an incident at San Domenico campus. A suspicious man had been slowly following girls down the road and had been watching them at the outside arena of the horse stable and near the Kindergarten playground. He was asked to leave the premises of the school but did not. The police were called, and they apprehended the man as he headed towards Fairfax.
The man, David James McCampbell, has a criminal record and is from Santa Clara. He was described as: late 50’s, medium-heavy set, approximately 5’11’’ and grey, wavy hair. Most notable feature is his very round face with reddish pigmentation. His vehicle is a dark blue Honda hatchback, older model with a dent in the side. In the past he has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor of child pornography.
Due to the swift thinking of parents (noting the make, model, and license plate of his car) and the San Domenico campus security, the Marin County Sheriff’s Department was immediately on top of the situation.
A hearing was held on Monday, February 9 that the Marin County Superior Court. and a decision was made to move the case to a jury trial, which is set for March 6. McCampbell’s probation officer in Santa Clara wants to proceed with a revocation of his probation, which would then have McCampbell going to the state prison.
This event should be a reminder to all parents in the Hollow – make sure your kids know that if they see someone suspicious, whether in a car or walking, they should immediately tell the first adult they know. Everyone at San Domenico worked together for a positive result, and luckily nothing more came of this situation. |

Tunstead Bridge Dedicated to Hal Brown
On Saturday, January 31st, about 25 people gathered to dedicate the new Tunstead bridge and walkway. The bridge was dedicated to Sleepy Hollow resident, Supervisor Hal Brown, for his two decades of support to the Town of San Anselmo.
The dedication was a surprise for Supervisor Brown, and he was, indeed, surprised. His contributions to San Anselmo include participation in building the Millennium Playground, Red Hill Community Park, Downtown Beautification, assistance after the 12/31/05 flood, and scholarships for Recreation Department program participants.
In addition, Supervisor Brown was instrumental in creating a coalition of Ross Valley towns and cities and the County of Marin, with the goal of reducing the risk of flooding in the Ross Valley.
Hal will attend our April SHHA meeting on April 2nd at 7:30 pm.
Feeling Superior?
Each year, the Judges of the Marin County Superior Court seek to nominate persons to the Civil Grand Jury with a view to having that panel represent a broad cross‐section of our community.
We have been asked to submit names of persons who might be willing and able to serve on the 2009‐2010 Civil Grand Jury. The law requires that the Superior Court prepare a list of no fewer than 25 nor greater than 30 potential Civil Grand Jurors, and they expect to receive 60 ‐ 75 applicants.
If you're interested in submitting your name for consideration, please contact Carolyn Goodman at carolyn@ goodmanmarketing.com who can send you a copy of the application form. Applicants must be returned to the Civic Center by March 20, 2009.
More specific information can be reached by calling Verna Adams, Presiding Judge, at 499‐6132. |
